The Format of GIFTI files

Introduction

The GIFTI file format was an designed by the Data Format Working Group (DFWG), an initiative by the NIH, USA. GIFTI files use the XML format to save surface meshes, functional, statistical and label files for cortical surfaces. The specification can be downloaded from NITRC: https://www.nitrc.org/frs/download.php/2871/GIFTI_Surface_Format.pdf.
